Plot
George decides to convert to Latvian Orthodox after his girlfriend Sasha (Jana Marie Hupp) tells him that her parents will not allow her to date a man who is not a member of the religion. Meanwhile, Jerry is disgusted when he sees a tube of fungicide in the medicine cabinet of his girlfriend Tawni (Kimberly Campbell). Elaine is dating a podiatrist (Tom Verica) but they bicker over whether he is "really a doctor".
George visits the church and talks to the head priest (Kay E. Kuter) about his conversion (when asked what aspect of the religion he likes he announces he likes "the hats"). When Kramer arrives to pick George up, a nun, Sister Roberta (Molly Hagan), becomes smitten with him.
Jerry returns to Tawni's apartment and takes her tube of fungicide. He takes it home and asks Elaine to get her podiatrist boyfriend to investigate what it is used for. He later finds out that her fungicide only being used for her cat.
The priests at the church are worried over Sister Roberta's infatuation with Kramer and tell him that he has "the kavorka," a Latvian word for "the lure of the animal," a man who is irresistible to women. He is given instructions to buy various foul-smelling foods and wear them, which inevitably stinks the apartment building.
George's parents discover that he is converting and they are infuriated, thinking that it is a cult. George attends the conversion ceremony and just before he is about to receive the final benediction from Sister Roberta, she reveals her attraction for Kramer. But when he arrives, smelling and stinky, she loses her attraction.
At Elaine's apartment, her boyfriend sees the tube of fungicide Jerry gave her, and he is disgusted, thinking Elaine has a fungal infection.
Finally, at Monk's, George tells Sasha that he has converted for her, but she tells him she's not ready for a commitment and she is moving to Latvia.

The writer of the episode, Bruce Kirschbaum, revealed later that he was unaware that the Latvian Orthodox Church actually existed while writing the episode. His original intention was to have a fictitious sect. Kirschbaum received many thank you letters from the church for bringing attention to the denomination.
In the episode, the exterior shots of the church are of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
